JUDGE ARDITTI'S BIO






Judge Regina Arditti has practiced law for 20 years and has been a judge for 12 years in this community. She was born and raised in El Paso, Texas where she attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School, Loretto Academy and then received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, from Texas Tech University, School of Law, in Lubbock, Texas. In 1988, she returned to El Paso where she served in various legal capacities as an Assistant County Attorney, Assistant District Felony Attorney for the 34th District of Texas, and Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of El Paso. She was also employed as an Associate Attorney for law firm, an attorney at the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate General (OS JAG), U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of the Army, at Fort Bliss, Texas, and an Assistant County Public Defender. Currently, she is an attorney in private practice.

Since 1996, her judicial appointments include Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of El Paso, the Municipal Court Judge in Clint, Texas, and in 2000 as Judge for Municipal Court No. 4. Since 2000, she was elected as Judge for Municipal Court No. 4 and served as Presiding Judge of the El Paso Municipal Courts from 2003 through 2008.

As Presiding Judge, she implemented the Court Community Service for juveniles and adults, Environmental Courts, Scofflaw Program, and Online Services for Payments, Court Forms, Court Dockets and Court Procedures in English, as well as, Spanish.

Judge Arditti is licensed to practice law in the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, and the State of Texas. She has taught at the University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso Community College, and has lectured at numerous legal seminars throughout Texas.

Judge Regina Arditti is a member of various civic organizations and professional bar associations. She serves on numerous community and legal boards, including the El Paso Bar Association, Border Fair Housing and Justice Center and Central Business Association.

She is the proud mother of four children, Anatasha, Dante, Mario and Ariella. In her personal life and professional career, she firmly believes in equality, justice, and most importantly fairness. She is bilingual.




JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Presiding Judge. City of El Paso Municipal Courts. El Paso, Texas. (September 2003–January 2, 2008) Preside over Elected Five (5) Municipal Trial Courts, 1 Appellate Court; Supervise Four (4) Associate Judges in the Arraignment and Night Magistrate Courts, 13 Substitute Associate Judges in the Temporary Appointed Courts. Exclusively Handled Right of Possession Hearings, Appeals for Civil Red Light and Parking Violations. Implemented the following services: The Environmental Courts for Municipal Code Violations, Adult and Juvenile Community Service, Scofflaw Program, Judges Training, Credit for Time Served Forms, Online Services for: English and Spanish Court Procedures, Citation Search, Court Forms, Court Dockets and Payments.
  • Judge, Municipal Court No. 4. El Paso, Texas (November 2001 – January 2, 2008) November 2001: Appointed by City Council, Ran Unopposed in nonpartisan Citywide Elections: May 7, 2003 and May 7, 2005. Preside over 750 Municipal Court contested trial court cases per week, indigency hearings, juvenile hearings, municipal code violations, pretrial hearings, Jury Trials, Magisterial duties.
  • Judge, Clint Municipal Court. Clint, Texas. (May 1998 to May 2003) Appointed by Town of Clint Council. Handled all Municipal Court Duties.
  • Associate Judge, Municipal Court, MC4B. El Paso, Texas. (March 1996 - November 2001) Appointed by El Paso City Council.  Weekend Night Magistrate handled warrants in felony and misdemeanor cases, warned defendants of their constitutional rights, determined indigency warrants and Substituted for Elected Judges as needed.
